How Does Business Alarm Monitoring Work?

All of our alarm systems are connected to a wireless or cellular network, which allows the control panel of your alarm system to communicate to the monitoring station via signal transmission.
At the alarm monitoring station, trained live operators can see when an event occurs, and what type of event it is. Your alarm will send signals of all arming and disarming, as well as a daily test signal, to the alarm monitoring station. The addition of video verification connects your CCTV to live visual confirmation, giving our monitoring team the power to verify threats in real time. If an irregular event occurs, operators can contact key-holders, security guards and/or police to investigate.

Are sirens enough to scare off trespassers? Do I really need alarm monitoring?

We highly recommend alarm monitoring to all of our clients for the simple reason that, in the event of a security breach, if you have a monitored alarm system someone will see the breach immediately and contact the right person (security guard, yourself, police) right away to carry out the right actions whereas without alarm monitoring you may not know about the trespass until it is too late, and in the meantime, yourself or a neighbour may put themselves at unnecessary risk by confronting a trespasser. Alarm monitoring also lets us know right away if there is an issue with your alarm system so that we can correct it ensuring that your premises are always secure.

It is also a common requirement of insurance policies to have a monitored alarm, particularly for commercial sites.

Can I integrate CCTV surveillance with alarm monitoring?

Yes. CCTV or video cameras can also be connected to monitoring, which will allow operators and clients to view monitored property during an event. Operators have the ability to capture images for later viewing, or for forwarding to the proper authorities.
Operators and clients are also able to randomly access cameras during periods when a monitored area is vacated and by using the pan, tilt and zoom functions of your camera system, to determine whether all is as it should be. This service is called ‘Cyber Tour’.
