Securing Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Te Rawhitiroa School (TKK) after hours

Before TKK contracted ARC Security, their only security measure was a basic alarm system triggered by break-ins; there was no effective deterrent to prevent graffiti or damage to the exteriors of the buildings and grounds, and the cost of too-frequent repairs were adding up.

TKK chose ARC Security because we are locals, and they were able to enjoy clear communication with our security consultant. “They are easy to work with.” Says TKK’s operations manager. Furthermore she adds that the solution proposed by ARC Security and installed by our team has led to a 90% decrease in criminal activity on school grounds (saving significant expense on property repairs) – much to the joy of students, staff and parents.

ARC Security’s custom solution included:

  • CCTV cameras on the outside of the buildings and classrooms to record 24/7.
  • Remote viewing and real-time alerts from CCTV through smartphone linking.
  • Cameras equipped with motion sensors; if tripped triggers strobe lights and a loudspeaker voice recorded message alerting trespassers that they are being recorded on camera.

In addition to property protection, ARC Security has also installed solutions for staff and student safety such as consolidating the school bell and lockdown alarms into a single, easy-to-operate, IP public address (PA) system. ARC Security remains TKK’s security advisor and partner, regularly visiting TKK to address any concerns or answer questions, inform them of pending changes to MOE security regulations and opportunities for funding, and ensure that as the school expands, the security measures in place remain up-to-date.
